Why Carthago: A Note from Luis Guerrero

ENGLISH
My name is Luis Guerrero, and I build guitars in Cartagena, a Mediterranean city whose history has always shaped the way I understand this craft.
The name Carthago comes from Carthago Nova, the name given to Cartagena in Roman times. Choosing it was a way of speaking about origin: the city, the landscape and the workshop where every instrument begins.
After many years dedicated to building high-end guitars, I felt the need to create a line with its own identity — more direct, honest and close to the musician, while maintaining the same standards of craftsmanship and attention to detail.
That is how Carthago Guitars was born.
For me, it is not about making more guitars. It is about making better instruments: guitars with character, balance and a response that inspires the player from the first note.
Every Carthago is built individually in my workshop. Wood, geometry and every small adjustment are considered with the final goal in mind: turning a set of materials into a musical tool with its own voice.
Carthago is tradition, experience and constant exploration. Above all, it is my way of building guitars in Cartagena for musicians anywhere in the world.
Welcome to the Carthago Guitars Journal.
